On 20.Sep.2007, I was totally shocked when knowing that my best friend got Lymphoma, and the situation was not optimistic, she had to be hospitalized and do chemotherapy once every three weeks, over the next 6 months, we didn't contact with each other anymore, she vanished from the world and my life. She must be so hard and painful, I really could understand and want to help her.
Actually this was one of my MA project, which is about memory, and according to this painful experience, I made this collage painting. The person on the left stands for my friend, since she has lost all of her hair and become extremely weak, I used fire to make some patterns on paper, then collected them to make a shape of human being, for the cancer cells, the meaning is not only about the disease, but also her scare of death. Well, I didnt make this to be a sorrow painting, I want to give her hope, so I cut some hand and smiling face pictures from magazines and then added them to the important parts of the body which play a role in sustaining. And on the right corner of the painting, there's the progress of a sapling growing up which stands for the hope that she could recover from the pain.

I want to start a project that mainly based on the spot of people's hands, since through hands we could indirectly learn about peolpe's life even their personality, I thought it would be a interesting project and want to develop it further.

I did this painting few days a ago, for my first idea about the final project of MA illustration, it is according to the music tune and lyrics to draw some pictures, this is from my favourite awesome band -Portishead, dummy albumn, 'Roads'. the story is about a girl who has to choose the roads face to her, one is evil but looks much more charming, and the other one is full of arduousness, and quite painful but in the end could lead u to the success, so now a hard problem face the little girl, what should she do?

I like flowers, all kinds of flowers, and I want my life to be floral and colorful, so I drew this pic, added some intersting things also, on the right side of the pic, there r a rabbit face and 2 men's faces, so now plz find them:)

I used mixed media to illustrated this work, flowers sample, embroidery, photography, ink and watercolor pencil. This is about my hometown, I try to collect some very special things from Chinese culture and mix them together.
